Yes I have seen the story of stuff. ...Hi Mariana. Yes I have seen the story of stuff. It's a nice succinct explanation. Growing organic carrots is not necessarily enough. Nothing may ever be enough. It's a difficult thing to navigate - having strong political/ideological beliefs and wanting things to move in that direction on different levels. I suppose that's why I'm doing this research. I do have to figure out how to keep my own ideology out of it though, because the research will have more value if it is presented in a more 'objective' way then if I'm just soap-boxing and only being listened to by people who already agree.Isahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13690870857568808886noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6337202956439809776.post-57262999182501634692012-08-29T16:22:23.492-07:002012-08-29T16:22:23.492-07:00I think we need mass movements to enact the radica...I think we need mass movements to enact the radical shifts we need as a society (ending war, mitigating climate change, navigating peak oil, reversing peak soil etc...). Although growing carrots in my own garden is something I find personally nourishing, I know it's not going to change the system that's voraciously destroying the planet! For that to happen we urgently need more collective forms of protest and change. Or, as the recent 'Story of Change' puts it:
'Real change happens when citizens come together to demand rules that work.
Look, it is important to try to live green. As Gandhi said, “be the change” Living our values in small ways shows ourselves and others we care. So it is a great place to start.
But it’s a terrible place to stop. After all, would we even know who Gandhi was if he just sewed his own clothes and then sat back waiting for the British to leave India?"

Have you seen it? http://www.storyofstuff.com/

M40https://www.blogger.com/profile/03893690983708635717noreply@blogger.com
